about

I'm Letxia! - a Mexican American photographer, filmmaker, and dancer in Los Angeles that specializes in music videos, dance films, documentaries, and experimental shorts. I do everything from producing, directing, filming, and editing. Themes of intimacy, change, and conflict inspire my work, and much like a music video, my film work is heavily visual, rhythmic, and snappy.

As a dancer, I studied ballet, modern, floorwork, and release technique at Santa Monica College under Karen McDonald, Jay Lee, Vanessa VanWormer, and Mark Tomasic. I choreograph and freestyle movement that is percussive, sudden and still - then smooth, expansive, and rhythmic. This July, I’m finishing up my role as a teaching artist for Heidi Duckler Dance, where I am honored to be teaching middle school students from A Place Called Home about site specific dance. I am thrilled to keep dancing in Los Angeles for site-specific dance pieces, theater performances, and dance films.

Because diversity inclusion is an incredibly important part of my work, I aim to create pictures, films, and dance pieces with more BIPOC artists like myself! Last year, I won the 2021 Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship, and I aim to use it to advance my knowledge and skills in building my network and hiring BIPOC artists.
